Energy Theft - Revenue Protection for European Utilities
5-6 November 2007, Vienna

Energyforum has designed this seminar to provide guidance and training to utility personnel in identifying, combating and reducing Energy Theft.

What is Energy Theft and why is it important?

Energy Theft, or Revenue Protection refer to the prevention, detection and recovery of losses caused by interference with electricity and gas supplies. This is a growing problem for all European utilities and this course is a way of stepping up against this development, and taking action against energy theft.

The problem of theft in the utility industry is not unique to any one country or region.  Utilities differ only in their perspective of the magnitude of the problem and the nature of their response.

Today utilities are faced with new and more sophisticated methods of theft and it is imperative that each revenue protection personnel can meet this challenge. This course is created so that all your revenue protection actions can continue to effectively address the theft problems, as well as non-theft revenue losses, as they are evolving.

In the UK the National Vocational Qualification in Revenue Protection helps with a more unified approach to identifying, controlling and reducing the theft of energy.

It is vital that both office based staff and field staff understand that the losses involved and how to help reduce them, as any losses in a completive market are off the bottom line profit.
